It may not come as a surprise to anyone who knows me, but lately, I've been trading pen and paper for Dubstep music and Virtual DJ. I have had a Numark iDJ ipod mixing console for years now, but recently found that I could record my mixes through virtual dj. The idj was great for live mixes, but I had no way to listen to them again, which is what spawned the need for Virtual DJ. Using software by itself is okay but I would really benefit from a digital controller. So, is there any loss from visual to audible forms of self-expression?
Tough to say.
I personally love the seamless-ness of a good mix.
Am I out to be the best DJ ever?
Not quite.
Am I the worst?
Not sure...
What I do know is that I don't suck, and I can only get better with time and effort, which doesn't seem so bad. Actually that's applicable to most everything.
If it's not fun, why do it -
My outlet for exposition is Mixcloud.
This was the second mix I ever recorded, it features a more reggae, dub-roots vibe.
Check me out and enjoy!
The music is not for everyone - but - if you like it - then I can relate to that.
*In no way is this an endorsement for Redstripe, which is delicious, it is an icon for the music here represented*
